The Moldy Pearl Cabaret is a two-storey building attached at the rear to another tower. It has blacked and shabby stone walls, with three carved wooden doors for small to large patrons. Accommodations overlook the road from the second story and consist of several small rooms.
In a city where the newest and flashiest establishment often garners the most attention, The Moldy Pearl has managed to maintain its staying power by not relying on trends, gimmicks, or strategies. It relies on the tried and true formula of booze, gambling, dancers and dark corners for privacy.
As you push through two heavy red velvet curtains as you enter the Moldy Pearl you notice it’s somewhat nicer inside than the shabby exterior lets on. It was deceptively larger. The cloak and weapons check desk was plastered with posters of the venues performers. Belly dancers, magicians, contortionists, torch singing fan dancers and comedic acrobats. The illusion spell on the marquee outside indicated tonight’s attraction was a burlesque troop call the Fanny Flappers.
As your eyes adjust to the subtly changing colored lights, and you begin to notice groups of people socializing, gambling and waiting for the show to start.
After some time taking in the show and a meal, the group decides to try to locate the horn by sussuing out Daask activity in the area.
Tawny Duskwolf an exotic dancer at The Pearl convinces Ubarum to help her procure dreamlily from her dealer The Sandman in exchange for information on the horns location.
Dreamlily Effects:
Consuming dreamlily causes disorienting euphoria and brings about remarkable resistance to pain. A creature under the effects of dreamlily is poisoned for 1 hour. While poisoned in this way, the creature is immune to fear, and the first time it drops to 0 hit points without being killed outright, it drops to 1 hit point instead. A dose of dreamlily costs around 1 gp, or up to ten times that if purchased through legal channels.
Initial Effect: If a user fails an initial DC 12 CON save, he feels completely at peace for 8 hours. During this time, the user can operate normally while at 0 to —4 hit points. At —5 hit points the user is disabled, and at —6 or lower he becomes unconscious. Also, he is immune to fear effects.
Secondary Effect: If a user fails a secondary DC 12 CON save, he takes 1d4 points of Wisdom damage.
Side Effects: Users can take only a single action in each round while under the effects of dreamlily.
Overdose: If the user fails a DC 10 CON save (which includes the penalty mentioned below), he imbibes too much and takes 2d4 points of damage.
Special: A dreamlily addict takes a —2 penalty on CON saving throws. This effect lasts until he manages to break the addiction.
If a user becomes addicted, he must either satisfy his desire for the drug or attempt the same saving throw each day. (The save DC rises to 25 for someone who remains addicted for two months.) A user can satisfy his desire for the drug for two days by taking one dose. If he does not continue taking the drug or if he fails an addiction saving throw, he loses 1d6 points of Dexterity, 1d6 points of Wisdom, and 1d2 points of Constitution. If a user succeeds on two consecutive addiction saving throws, he breaks the addiction. Lesser restoration and restoration heal ability damage in the short term; remove disease breaks the addiction; greater restoration or heal does both.
