Session Overview:

Descent into Chaos

The session begins with the Arcane Prelature entering the Ebon Vault, creating an immediate sense of danger for the party. Minerva, using her keen perception, spots the Prelature members—Inquisitor Corvin Teralis, Investigator Aelis Raethel, and Combat Mage Sorin Gale—but they notice her. Recognizing the imminent threat, she warns the group, prompting their hasty departure. The Prelature, alerted to their presence, begins their pursuit.

The chase through the Undercroft is tense and treacherous, with the party navigating its twisting, dimly lit pathways. They move through several perilous locations, including a Narrow Tunnel, where the tight passage and uneven ground slow their pace, and a Poisonous Mist Chamber, where noxious vapors force them to suppress coughs and avoid the toxic mushrooms that line the walls. Shadows that appear to move of their own accord and illusionary traps in the Shifting Shadows passage further disorient the group, adding an eerie magical threat to their flight.

Eventually, the party reaches Gloomwater Pool, a damp, foreboding chamber where the murky waters and faintly glowing algae create an ominous atmosphere. Just as they take a moment to catch their breath, they are ambushed by diseased rats, maggots, and Skav hunters lurking in the shadows. The party must now fend off this surprise attack while knowing that the Prelature is still close behind, their chase far from over. This encounter marks a pivotal moment in their escape, where the stakes grow even higher.

Party Crashers

Minerva’s sharp instincts served the party well as she was the first to spot the arrival of the Arcane Prelature in the Ebon Vault. Her past encounters with Aelis Raethel heightened her tension as she worked quickly to alert her companions and lead them out of the Vault, unfortunsly not as unnoticed as she would have liked.

Hot Pursuit

During the chase, Vorana’s keen perception helped the group navigate the shifting shadows and poisonous mists, ensuring they stayed one step ahead of their pursuers. Vorana remains focused on guiding the party toward Yanna.

Fog of War

Eilibh struggled with an unexplained unease that seemed to intensify with every step deeper into the Undercroft. Despite this, Eilibh contributed to the group’s survival, particularly in the Gloomwater Pool, where her tactical awareness helped fend off the ambush.

Mind on my Money

Always opportunistic, Thritch seized the chaos of the pit fight’s aftermath to reconnect with Skeltch, an old associate. While their reunion was tinged with mistrust due to Grithol’s manipulative schemes, Thritch’s charm rekindled a tenuous alliance, with the possibility for profit ahead.

Brawn vs. Brain

During the escape, Grabthar and Duruk’s physical prowess was evident as they powered through the chase’s physical challenges, helping the group navigate the treacherous terrain of the Undercroft.

...of (rats) and Men

After the pit fight concludes, the Ebon Vault buzzes with excitement as patrons collect their winnings and Grithol revels in his success. Operating under the alias “Shingleditch,” Grithol had orchestrated the fight to his advantage, hiring Skeltch to eliminate Feral Jack, a petty thief who had stolen from him. Betting heavily against Jack, Grithol turned the fight into a lucrative scheme, securing both vengeance and profit in one stroke. Thritch, spotting an opportunity amidst the chaos, approaches his former associate Skeltch to reconnect and propose a renewed partnership.

Basking in his victory, Skeltch a partner in Grithol’s broader plan—looks forward to a payday. Ever opportunistic, Thritch uncovers their arrangement and, “suggests” that they pool their talents and leverage Grithol’s resources for future ventures. Grithol, intrigued by the potential for more schemes, agrees but delivers a pointed warning: loyalty is non-negotiable, and betrayal will come at a steep price. With a tense agreement in place, the trio forms an uneasy alliance, driven by mutual ambition but shadowed by distrust, setting the stage for a partnership that teeters between profit and betrayal.
